Rainbow Jews & Human Rights: WOGA Outgames Antwerp 2013

Antwerp panel2Rainbow Jews project manager Surat Rathgeber Knan gave a well-received presentation about ‘The role of progressives in a diverse changing society’ at the Human Rights Conference FROM SAFE HARBOURS TO EQUALITY – A CHANGING LGBT WORLD: TRANSITIONS AND MIGRATIONS

The event was part of the World Out Sports Games (WOGA), which took place in Antwerp, Belgium, in August this year. Surat reported: ‘It was fantastic to speak on a panel of international experts from as far as Samoa. Delegates applauded Liberal Judaism’s progressive stance as well as the pioneering concept of the Rainbow Jews oral history project; in fact, even a member of the European Parliament, Mr. Dennis De Jong, expressed interest in future collaboration.’

"Rainbow Jews provides an important source of Jewish history. I urge people to get involved and support this project in whichever way they can"

"I am honoured to support Rainbow Jews and to celebrate the huge positive contribution that Jewish people make to the LGBT community and to our wider society. Jewish and LGBT people share many parallels of oppression and of triumph over adversity. As victims of prejudice, it is important for us to stand together united against all hate."
